Four years ago I was in Philadelphia at the Science Leadership academy working with that first graduating class. On this day they fanned out into their neighborhoods to conduct voter interviews. There were photos, videos, audio… I thought I would share some of that audio from that first round of interviews!
Many of these students will be casting their first ballot in a presidential election today. Some have reached out on all manner of social media to let me know they are voting and encouraging those around them to do so as well. I could not be more proud.
I’ll jump in and share in your pride, here, Lauf, as I had a plethora of tweets, emails, Facebook messages, etc. acknowledging the very same.
Oddly, thought of you earlier and wondered if you were feeling slightly off today not being in the classroom during another historical election (as I was feeling off not being there). We are both in very different roles now, yet we are still able to see our intended impact for the young adults we were privileged to teach, albeit in very different schools. Seeing all of this today is so reaffirming of what we do. Here’s to always trying to make a difference! Be well!
Hi Diana. Your whole story is so exciting. I have a kernel of an idea for a Diana Laufenberg Summer Institute
I live in Philly. Can we meet and discuss?
Absolutely. Will be in Philly December 1-7, shoot me a message through the contact page and we can continue the conversation by email.
